Monday Challenge #57 - Buttons & Bows!

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend!  We spent part of our weekend camping and woke up one of the mornings to snow!

We have decided to add a new rule to the Monday Challenges. Starting this week your project must be new for this challenge (no backlinking) in order to qualify for the prize.  It is so fun to see all of your projects and I hope you enjoy playing along with each new challenge!

For those of you who are new to My Craft Spot I thought I would post the challenge rules again.  (They are also listed on the left side bar)

To qualify for this weeks prize:
1. Make a project that matches the challenge.
2. Link back to My Craft Spot in your post.
3. One entry per person.
4. Project must be new for this challenge (no backlinking)

Winners are announced the Wednesday after the challenge closes.  :)

So, are you ready for a new challenge?!?!

4th of July Glass Block!

Hello, my crafty friends!  Today I have a fun 4th of July project using a Glass Block and Vinyl!

So, I had this idea in my head and pulled out my Gypsy.  I added a 6.5 inch square on the first layer so I would have a template.

Then, I opened a new layer and added all of the words and pictures so I would be able to see how everything would fit together.  Then, I opened a new layer for each color (Red, white, blue, and black) and copied the words/pictures I needed to cut from each color.  I cut each word or picture with my Cricut and then added them one at a time.  If I had chosen to use only one color of vinyl, I could have applied the vinyl to the glass block all at once, but I thought it was worth the extra effort to have different colors.  :)

I have listed out all of the cartridges and cut sizes I used.  Basically, I just played around with the fonts I already had.  If you have the Stand & Salute cartridge (which I don't), there is a bunch of fun word art all ready to go!

Red America:  Jasmine cartridge - 2.29 inches
White Stars:  George cartridge - 0.80 inches and 0.41 inches
Black America:  Kate's ABCs cartridge - 1.02 inches
Black image of boy and wagon:  A Child's Year cartridge - 1.94 inches
Blue 4:  Kate's ABCs - 1.21 inches
Blue th and of:  Kate's ABCs - 0.52 inches and 0.43 inches
Blue JULY:  Boys will be Boys cartridge - 0.93 inches

Blue Home of the Brave:  Lyrical Letters Cartridge - 0.68 inches
Red Liberty:  Jasmin cartridge - 1.31 inches
White USA: Kate's ABCs cartridge - 0.61 inches
Black image of boy in car:  A Child's Year - 1.71 inches
Blue Land of the Free:  Lyrical Letters Cartridge - 0.84 inches

**I moved the letters closer together for the "Land of the Free" and "Home of the Brave"

Click HERE for a video showing how to apply vinyl to tile.  I applied my vinyl to the Glass Block exactly the same way, except that I did just one piece at a time.

I got my block from Quality Glass.   It has a plug on the bottom so you can put things (including lights!) inside the block.  How cool is that?!?!

Have a happy day!

Hi everyone!  Since last Monday I introduced the new DT members, we didn't have a challenge last week, so no winners to post today.  The end of the school year is always a crazy busy time of year, but I do have some projects I have been working on!  Just need to snap some pictures . . .

Have a happy day!

Monday Challenge #56 - Congratulations!

There are so many wonderful milestones in life to celebrate with loved ones and friends!  This week is graduation week for us!  My youngest just graduated from Kindergarten - a bittersweet moment for me.  Later this summer we may have a wedding to celebrate as well!  New babies, new jobs, promotions at work, so many other special occasions that give us an excuse to make and send handmade cards!

This weeks challenge:  Congratulations!
(Graduation, new baby, new job, weddings, etc.)

Gwen's card is absolutely adorable!!  I love the sweet baby with her rosy cheeks!

I love how Gwen inked and matted everything!  This sentiment is from the Inside & Out #2 stamp set (Now Back in stock! Yay!)

The all white combo on GiGi's shaped card is just gorgeous!!

She gathered snow white Crinkle ribbon to make ruffles and then added a beautiful bow - stunning!

Inside of GiGi's card:

Kate made this fun card for her daughter who just accepted her offer to McMaster University (aka "Mac").  I love the play on words and the fun colors Kate used for her card!

What a fun idea to add a sentiment on top of a sentiment die cut!

Amber

I love the banner on Amber's cute card!!   The doodling around the giraffe is fabulous!  It really makes that Giraffe stand out!

I love how Amber used her ribbon to join the two patterned papers!

Amber made these fun cards for all of her Preschool Graduates!

Each child got a card with their hair color!  I love how we can personalize handmade cards!

Robin

What a fun card!  I love how Robin's card folds and that tassle is so pretty!

Robin found a fun tutorial on YouTube for this card and couldn't resist trying it out!

I love the stitching!!

Marlene

I love the soft colors and beautiful flowers and swirls on Marlene's wedding card!

Inside of Marlene's gorgeous card:

I love how Marlene added a pearl to the center of her beautiful bow! So pretty!
